Holland's Vanderbilt Charter Academy elementary and middle school has many accomplishments, among them we find the following:
- MEAP Growth 1.37 years per year.
- AYP State Report Card – A, 2nd year in a row.
- Exceeded the state average in 16 of 27 tests on the MEAP.
- Outperformed Holland Public (local district) in 20 of 27 tests.
- Vanderbilt is the number 1 of 30 schools that are chartered by Grand Valley State University in academic
proficiency.
Academic Achievements
Vanderbilt Academy has continually demonstrated academic growth and achievements during the past seven years. This growth is based on records developed by our authorizer Grand Valley State University Charter School Office, MEAP testing, Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and records from standardized national achievement tests.

The Grand Valley State University Charter School Office, our authorizer, makes annual statewide comparisons to evaluate the schools it charters in comparison to the 700 school districts in the State of Michigan. Vanderbilt has been ranked in the top 25 out of 700 districts for the past four years. During these four years, Vanderbilt has been ranked #1 or #2 out of the 30 schools Grand Valley State University authorizes.
National Heritage Academies has increased its number of schools from 28 in 2002 to 61 in 2009. Vanderbilt Academy has been recognized by NHA for academic proficiency in the top 10% of those schools four times total in the years 2002 – 2003, 2003 – 2004, 2006 – 2007, and 2008 – 2009.
